The latest leak comes from South Korea’s English newspaper, Korea Herald and reveals that the Apple iPhone 8 will feature plastic curved OLED display. As per the newspaper, Apple has only ordered plastic OLED panels from Samsung.

“The OLED version of the new iPhone will all be curved as Apple ordered all plastic OLED — not glass — from Samsung Display. Samsung is capable of supplying a little less than 100 million units of curved OLED displays to Apple,” stated the newspaper.

Since plastic OLED displays are used for making curved display, we could expect Apple’s upcoming smartphone to feature the same. Samsung’s Galaxy S7 Edge also uses plastic OLED panel. It is yet to be known if Apple will opt for a dual curved display or it will go for curve on all sides of the upcoming smartphone.

It has been over a month since the launch of Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Instead of a full-fledged upgrade, Apple’s latest iPhones are considered to be just incremental upgrades over iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. With iPhone 7 being unable to do enough magic, all the eyes are now turning to the Apple iPhone 8, which is less than a year away from its launch. Leaks and rumors surrounding the forthcoming smartphone have already started making rounds over the internet. Let’s have a look at what the iPhone 8 will have in store for us!

Let’s start with the rumors concerning iPhone 8’s design. Given that iPhone will celebrate its 10th Anniversary in 2017 (next year), we can expect Apple to launch the iPhone 8 with a new design. According to Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI securities, the iPhone 8 will boast of a glass back instead of aluminium back. Glass back smartphone though, would not be a first from the company as Apple has been using the glass back design in the past for its smartphones like iPhone 4S.

Another report from Nikkei hints that the 2017 iPhone will feature an OLED display. The iPhone 8 could also come in an additional variant with a screen size of 5-inch, besides 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models.

Apple could also ditch the Home button and the Touch ID enabled button will be placed beneath the glass panel. We could also possibly see a curved edge or bezel-less display.

Apple’s current year’s flagships- iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus lack the wow factor. With iPhone 8 though, we expect that the company will bring something ingenious to entice buyers. We will update you with more developments on this story! Stay tuned with us!
