The Apple iPhone X is powered by a Hexa-core A11 Bionic processor (touted by Apple as ‘the smartest chip ever in a smartphone’) with two high-performance cores and four high-efficiency cores. Apple claims that the new chipset is up to 70 percent faster than the A10. The new processor is supported by a new Apple-designed GPU that is up to 30 percent faster than previous iterations of iPhone.
While Apple did not reveal all the specifications, as per new reports, TENAA (China’s telecommunication authority) has confirmed that the iPhone X comes with 3GB RAM and a 2,716mAh battery. While the 3GB RAM is not a game changer, Apple claims that the new battery can last 2 hours more than the iPhone 7. The new handset also supports Qi wireless charging. Additionally, the new AirPower charger allows you to charge iPhone X, Apple Watch and the AirPods.
The Apple iPhone X features a dual camera setup with quad-LED True Tone flash on the back. It uses two 12-megapixel cameras with f/1.8 and f/2.4 apertures. Both sensors come with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). Camera features include Portrait Mode (allows you to take images with depth of field effects) and Portrait Lighting (allows you to select the lighting effect from different options).
On the front, the new iPhone features a 7-megapixel TrueDepth camera with Portrait Mode and Portrait Lighting features.

- Face ID
- TrueDepth camera

- Quad-LED True Tone flash

- iOS 11
The iPhone X comes with 3D face recognition feature called Face ID. It uses Apple’s TrueDepth camera system to detect your face. A dot projector puts out thousands of invisible IR dots which are checked by an infrared sensor to find a match. It is powered by an A11 Neural Bionic Engine with a dual-core design which can perform 600 billion operations in a second.
Apple claims that Face ID will work even if you put on glasses, grow a beard or get a different hairstyle. However, it will not be fooled by photographs or the like. The Face data is protected in a secure enclave on the A11 chip. The new feature even works in the dark, thanks to a Flood Illuminator.
The Face ID features can be used to authenticate Apple Pay payments and open other third-party apps. Apple has also released customisable animated emojis called Animojis. These can be controlled with your face (up to 50 facial movements). The company has removed the traditional Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The new iPhone X also comes with a new ‘Tap to wake’ feature.
The Apple iPhone X runs iOS 11 operating system. It measures 143 x 70.9 x 7.7mm and weighs 174 grams. Sensors on the device include a Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor, Gyroscope, and Barometer. The single SIM (Nano-SIM) smartphone includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC, 3G and 4G as connectivity options.
Design and Display
The Apple iPhone X sports a 5.8-inch edge-to-edge OLED display with a resolution of 1125 x 2436pixels and million-to-one contrast ratio. The ‘Super Retina’ display supports HDR 10, Dolby Vision and Apple’s TrueTone technology (similar to 9.7-inch iPad Pro).
The bezel-less redesign includes a polished stainless steel frame and glass on both sides. It does not feature a home button. A larger side button can be now be used to talk to Siri. The new smartphone is also water and dust resistant. It comes in two color options – Space Gray and Silver.
