Price Rs 42,990

The BlackBerry KEY2 comes at a price tag of Rs 42,990 in India. Sales start from July 31 via Amazon.in. As part of launch offer, the new smartphone comes with Reliance Jio cashback offer (worth Rs 4,450). Additionally, ICICI bank users can get a 5% cashback.

The BlackBerry KEY2 sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution (1620 x 1080 pixels), 433ppi pixel density, and 3:2 aspect ratio. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

The smartphone is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, Adreno 512 GPU, and 6GB RAM. The 64GB/ 128GB internal storage can be further expanded via a microSD card (up to 2TB).

In terms of optics, the BlackBerry KEY2 sports is the company’s first dual-camera smartphone. It combines a 12MP primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture, 1.14µm pixels, Dual-Pixel PDAF, and a 79.3-degree wide-angle lens) with a 12MP secondary sensor (f/2.6 aperture, 1.0µm pixels, and a 50-degree telephoto lens). Camera features include 4K video recording and dual-tone LED flash. The 8MP front camera supports full HD video recording.

The 3360mAh battery comes with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support. The company claims that it can last more than 25 hours with mixed usage.

The BlackBerry KEY 2 comes with a physical QWERTY keyboard. Each key supports three actions – single-press, double-press, and long-press. Users can customize the double-press and long-press actions. Additionally, a customizable Speed Key allows you to quickly open any assigned app or function.

The dual-SIM smartphone features a Series 7000 aluminum alloy frame and a textured diamond grip back panel. It comes only in Black color option. A fingerprint scanner is embedded in the spacebar key.

The BlackBerry KEY2 runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box. Connectivity options include 4G LTE+VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, GPS/A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, USB 3.0 Type-C port, FM Radio, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Due to its huge price tag, the BlackBerry KEY2 will face tough competition from the liked of OnePlus 6, Honor 10, etc. Since the new handset does not support much impressive specs and features, it will only appeal to a niche and loyal fanbase.
