New LG V30 AI-Focused Variant Coming At MWC 2018 – Here’s All We Know

LG plans to launch yet another variant of its V30 handset. The company is expected to launch an AI-focused variant of LG V30 at the upcoming MWC 2018. It is tipped to be named as V30+ alpha or V30+a. The new LG V30 AI-Focused variant is expected to debut at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona next month. The original LG V30 was launched at IFA last year. The company also launched the LG V30+ model which comes with additional storage.

The LG V30 features a 6.0-inch OLED FullVision display with QHD+ (1440 x 2880 pixels) resolution, 538ppi, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It is the first device to feature a plastic OLED FullVision display. The ‘Always-on’ display replaces the secondary screen seen on previous V series devices. The QHD+ display features 18:9 FullVision aspect ratio,  covers 109 percent of the DCI-P3 colour space and supports HDR10 as well. It is optimal for VR and supports Google Daydream.

The LG V30 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and 4GB LPDDR4x RAM. It comes with 64GB internal storage which can be further expanded via a microSD card (up to 2TB). The LG V30+ variant features 128GB internal storage. The powerful device is backed by a 3300mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. It also supports wireless charging.

Cameras

On the camera front, the new LG V30 features a dual rear camera setup. It combines a 16-megapixel sensor with f/1.6 aperture, 71-degree wide-angle lens and a 13-megapixel sensor with a 120-degree wide-angle lens and f/1.9 aperture. The LG V30 also sports a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture and 90-degrees wide-angle lens.

The f/1.6 aperture is a game changer. It will allow the camera to capture more light, and sharper pictures, even in conditions of low light. The Crystal Clear Lens on dual cameras adds to the process of correct colour reproduction and clearer photographs. Earlier, LG had announced that the V30 will feature the ‘clearest’ lens ever on a smartphone. Other camera features include laser detection autofocus, optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS).

On the back, the LG V30 sports a centre-aligned dual camera setup (horizontal) and a fingerprint scanner. It measures 151.7 x 75.4 x 7.3mm and weighs 158 grams. LG claims that the upper and lower bezels have been reduced by 20 to 50 percent, compared to the LG V20. The new handset comes with a fingerprint scanner at the back. It will be available in four colour options – Aurora Black, Cloud Silver, Moroccan Blue, and Lavender Violet.

The LG V30 runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system with an upgraded LG UX 6.0+. The Indian variant may run Android Oreo 8.0 OS out of the box. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth v5.0 with BLE, NFC, and USB Type-C 2.0. It is compatible with USB Type-C 3.1.

The LG V30 enhance the audio experience with a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC powered by Bang & Olufsen. It also comes with support for Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) technology for high-resolution audio streaming. The smartphone comes with the earphones (manufactured by B&O Play) with three digital filters to adjust output.

The LG V30 comes with ‘Ok, Google’ voice activation feature. You can assign certain keywords to perform various actions, even within the apps. Users will be able to unlock their device with their voice. The voice recognition feature works along with the music playback.

Other features include IP68 certification (water and dust resistance), and MIL-STD 810G rating (for durability). It also supports facial recognition technology, similar to the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 smartphones. The combinations of f/1.6 Crystal Clear Lens Camera and Cine Video mode can help you create professional-looking content.
