Microsoft Lumia 550 With Windows 10 Launched In India At Rs. 9,399: Specifications & Features

Microsoft has finally launched its Lumia 550 smartphone in the Indian market. To recall, the phone was unveiled at an event in New York back in October 2015 alongside Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL smartphones.

As for specifications, the Lumia 550 is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor paired with 1GB of RAM. It features a 4.7-inch HD display with 1280×720 pixels resolution. There is 8GB of internal memory onboard which is expandable up to 2TB via microSD card. On camera front, it sports a 5 mega pixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and f/2.4 aperture while there is also a 2 mega pixel front facing camera with f/2.8 aperture.

Running Windows 10 operating system, the Lumia 550 comes with several features such as Cortana digital voice assistant, Microsoft Edge browser, OneDrive and Microsoft Office.

Backed up by a 2100mAh battery, it is claimed to deliver up to 14 hours of talk time and up to 28 days of standby time on 3G networks. The smartphone measures 136.1×67.8×9.9 mm in dimensions, weighs 141.9 grams and comes in Black and White color options. Microsoft has launched only dual SIM variant of the handset in India.

The Microsoft Lumia 550 is priced Rs. 9,399 and will go on sale in India starting December 23, 2015.

The sub-Rs. 10,000 market of smartphones in India is indeed a crowded one. Considering options like Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime and Yu Yureka Plus that offer better specs at lower price, the price tag of Lumia 550 seems a bit high.
