OnePlus 5T Sandstone Variant Might Come On January 5

As per new reports, OnePlus plans to launch a new sandstone variant of the OnePlus 5T. It might just be a white sandstone case without the Star Wars tag. Recently, OnePlus teased a new product on its official YouTube channel. Now, the company has released a new teaser hinting at the launch date. The OnePlus 5T Sandstone variant is expected to be launched in China on January 5. The teaser comes with the phrases like ‘three days left’ and ‘The Classic returns’. It is expected to bear the same price tag as the standard model.

The OnePlus 5T is priced in India at Rs 32,999 for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB internal storage variant. An 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant will cost you Rs 37,999.

OnePlus 5T Sandstone Variant

The OnePlus 5T was launched in Midnight Black color option. Later, the company added a Lava red and Star Wars Limited edition. The Star Wars Limited edition features a white sandstone finishes with a Star Wars tag on the back. For the new OnePlus 5T Sandstone Variant, OnePlus might just get rid of the Star Wars logo

The teaser video is titled ‘What’s in the box?’ and includes people feeling a mystery product inside a covered box. The responses hint at a ‘smooth, textured and stone build’. Check out the new video below.

The OnePlus 5T sports a 6.0-inch Full Optic AMOLED with full-HD+ (1080 x 1920 pixels) resolution, an 18:9 aspect ratio, 401ppi pixel density, and 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The display also supports sRGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts. It is powered by a 2.45GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The OnePlus 5T is backed by a 3300mAh non-removable battery with Dash Charge (5V, 4A) fast charging technology.

The dual rear camera setup on the smartphone comes with new upgrades. It features a 16MP Sony IMX398 primary sensor with 1.12-micron pixels, a f/1.7 aperture and a focal length of 27.22mm. The secondary telephoto lens comes with a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376K sensor (OnePlus 5 features a Sony IMX350 sensor) with 1-micron pixel size, f/1.7 aperture, and a focal length of 27.22mm.

The camera setup comes with a dual-LED flash. It allows you to record 4K video at 30fps and full HD (1080p) videos at 60fps. Additionally, it is equipped with ‘Intelligent Pixel Technology’, which merges four pixels into one to reduce noise and improve clarity. The redesigned setup on OnePlus 5T switches to the secondary 20-megapixel camera in low-light conditions.

The front camera is identical to the OnePlus 5 in all aspects. The 16-megapixel selfie cam features a Sony IMX371 sensor with 1-micron pixels, an f.2.0 aperture, and full HD (1080p) recording capabilities.

The OnePlus 5T runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system with OxygenOS 4.7 on top. It comes with a Face Unlock feature (based on advanced facial recognition algorithms) which can securely unlock the smartphone in 0.4 seconds. The new feature will work as an authentication method for payment apps.

Additional features include a Reading Mode, Parallel Apps, and Gallery Maps. You can also long-press the fingerprint sensor to take a selfie, and swipe to bring up the notification shade. Sensors on the device include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and an RGB sensor.

The dual-SIM smartphone measures 156.1 x 75 x 7.3mm and weighs 162 grams. It features a metal unibody design (made from anodized aluminium). Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac with MIMO 2×2, Bluetooth v5.0 (with aptX and aptX HD), NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, USB Type-C (v2.0) port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
