Samsung has finally announced the launch of Galaxy S6 Active. Priced at $199, the handset will be available starting June 12 in the US, exclusively in partnership with AT&T with 2-year contract. There is no word on the global launch of the phone as of now.
As for specifications, the S6 Active packs nearly similar specs as the original Galaxy S6. The former handset though is shock proof (rugged), dust and water resistance. It also packs larger battery with capacity of 3500mAh and features wireless charging technology. There is also an Activity Zone button, so that users can access compass, flashlight, stop watch and more quickly.

While a number of leaks have been suggesting that Samsung is working on its Galaxy S6 Active, now Samsung itself has confirmed that it is soon going to launch the phone in the markets. The Galaxy S6 Active accidentally appeared on company’s support page listing. The page however, has now been taken down. We can thus, expect announcement for the device in the coming days.
New specs details are in line with the previous leaks except that it will pack a 2550mAh battery instead of 3500mAh battery as rumored before. Also, it is likely to arrive only in one storage variant-32GB as compared to three variants- 32/64/128GB of original Galaxy S6.

A week ago, we saw leaked images of upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6 Active which was rumored to sport a Quad HD display. Now, according to an alleged user agent profile, the Galaxy S6 Active with model number device SM-G890A is confirmed to arrive with QHD (25601440 pixels resolution) display, reports Napidroid. The predecessor Samsung Galaxy S5 Active features a full-HD (1080×1920 pixels resolution) display. Furthermore, the Galaxy S6 Active is likely to be backed up by a 3500mAh battery as compared to 2550mAh battery of Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge. Samsung is reportedly working on a new smartphone dubbed the Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, press renders of which have been leaked. The Galaxy S6 Active looks rugged and sturdy in the images posted by Evleaks. Besides tough design, the handset is likely to be water resistant. The images reveal that the handset will feature physical buttons which means that it could miss out on the fingerprint sensor.
As per rumors, the S6 Active is likely to be powered by an octa core (quad 2.1GHz + quad 1.5GHz) Exynos processor paired with 3GB of RAM. Running Android Lollipop operating system, it is rumored to feature a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display with 2560×1440 pixels resolution and 577ppi pixel density.
It is expected to arrive in three variants based on storage- 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. Other rumored specs of the Samsung’s upcoming phone include 16 mega pixel rear camera with LED flash, OIS, 5 mega pixel front facing camera and a 3500 mAh battery.
Alleged images of Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 also appeared online earlier this week. Rumored specifications of the tablet include Octa-core Exynos 5433/7420 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, Android 5.0.2 Lollipop operating system, 9.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 2048×1536 pixels resolution, 16GB/ 32GB inbuilt storage (expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card), 8 mega pixel rear camera with LED flash, 2.1 mega pixel front facing camera and a 5870 mAh battery.
