Samsung has unveiled its much anticipated smartphone, dubbed the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+. It will be rolled out for sale in the US and Canada starting August 21, 2015. There is no word on pricing and availability of the phablet in the Indian market.

Processor & RAM

Both smartphones are powered by octa-core (2.1GHz Quad + 1.5GHz Quad) Exynos 7420 processor. The Galaxy S6 Edge packs 3GB of RAM while the Galaxy S6 Edge+ comes with 4GB of RAM.

Display

While both handsets pack QHD Super AMOLED dual-edge display with 1440×2560 pixels resolution and Gorilla Glass 4 protection, there is a difference in display size and pixel density of the two. The Galaxy S6 Edge features a 5.1 inch display with 577ppi pixel density whereas the Galaxy S6 Edge+ sports a 5.7-inch display with 518ppi pixel density.

Camera

Both Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy S6 Edge sport a 16 mega pixel rear camera with OIS, AF and LED Flash while there is also a 5 mega pixel front facing camera onboard.

Storage

The Galaxy S6 Edge+ comes in two variants based on storage- 32GB/64GB. The S6 Edge also comes in 128GB variant, in addition to 32GB/64GB variants. Both devices lack microSD card support for expandable storage.

Battery

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ is backed up by a larger 3000mAh battery as compared to 2600mAh battery of the Galaxy S6 Edge.

Software

Both phablets run Android Lollipop wrapped under TouchWiz UI.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ comes with several upgrades over its predecessor such as bigger display, more RAM and larger battery. This power packed phablet does not fail to impress us in any department. Samsung raises the bar with every device and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ is no exception.
