Samsung has launched its latest Tizen OS based smartphone, dubbed the Samsung Z2 in India. To recall, Samsung launched its first Tizen based smartphone, called the Z1, in India in January 2015. Samsung has launched the successor of Tizen based Z1, dubbed the Samsung Z3 smartphone in India. The Samsung Z3 comes with several improvements over its predecessor.
As far as specifications of the device go, it is powered by a Spreadtrum quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with 1GB of RAM. The handset runs Tizen operating system and features a 5-inch Super AMOLED HD display with 720p resolution. On camera front, it sports an 8 mega pixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5 mega pixel front facing camera. Backed up by a 2600mAh battery, it houses 8GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card.
Last month it was reported that Samsung is working on two Tizen smartphone- Samsung Z2 and another global smartphone. Now images of the former smartphone have started making rounds on the internet. The successor of Samsung Z1, the Z2 phone is said to be an entry level phone unlike the forthcoming global Tizen smartphone which will be a mid-ranger. According to the leaked images, the Tizen based Samsung Z2 will feature a physical home bottom in the centre, just like the Samsung Galaxy line-up. The volume buttons will be the same as in Samsung Z1. It will also feature front facing camera and Proximity / Light / Gesture sensors. The Z2 is expected to be launched later this year.
After the success of Samsung Z1 phone, Samsung is now said to be working on its two new Tizen phones- the Samsung Z2 and another Tizen smartphone which will be launched globally. The successor of Samsung Z1, the Z2 phone is rumored to be an entry level smartphone while the global Tizen phone will be a mid-ranged phone. The Z2 is likely to be unveiled in first half of 2015. While there is no word on availability of the global Tizen phone, it is said to be launched in several markets across the globe like Korea, USA, Russia, EU, China, India, France, Malaysia and South Asia. Samsung India has launched the Samsung Z1 Tizen phone in India at a launch event in New Delhi India on 14th January 2014. The phone has been launched at an aggressive price to counter the strong competition in the entry level smartphone market. The phone runs Tizen OS which is Samsung own smartphone OS. In terms of hardware, the phone is a Dual SIM phone and has a 4 inch display with display resolution of 480×800 pixels. In terms of CPU, it runs a 1.2 GHz dual core CPU and 4 GB of internal memory. It also comes with expandable memory support via 64 GB microSD card. It has a 3 Megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a front facing VGA camera.
South Korean smartphone manufacturer Samsung will be launching its entry level low cost smartphone- Tizen based Samsung Z1 soon in December 2014. This smartphone will be available in sub $100 category which makes it around Rs. 6000/-. According to South Korea’s Maeil Business Newspaper, Samsung is going to launch this phone on 10th December 2014 at a press conference in India. Samsung’s smartphones are based on google’s platform. The launch of Tizen operating system based smartphone will reduce the reliance of Samsung on Google Android operating systems.
