This new tech will help the company’s handsets in sectors like facial, gesture, and motion recognition.

The new Vivo Face ID will provide an advanced method by enabling 3D mapping at up to three meters from the device.

According to Alex Feng, Senior Vice President of Vivo, “By combining TOF 3D Sensing Technology with AI, we will continue to explore new possibilities for a better future”.

Other Developments

The company also has launched the world’s first 91.2% screen-to-body ratio smartphone– Vivo Nex – in China on 12th June 2018. The smartphone will be sporting very thin bezels.

Vivo Nex sports an 8-megapixel selfie shooter. Moreover, it is in a retractable setup. The module is hidden on the top edge of the phone but pops out when a user wants to use it. The company has also claimed that the camera module is capable of movement over 50,000 times.

Just like the X21, Vivo Nex also has an in-display fingerprint scanner. It is the third generation and is apparently 50% better at recognition accuracy. The scanner has a broader detection area and has 10% faster unlock speed.

Vivo’s latest smartphone is built with a 6.59-inch FHD+ 19:3:9 Super AMOLED display. Moreover, it is backed by a 4000mAh battery. The handset runs on Funtouch OS 4.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.

In the camera department, the handset has a dual-rear camera module. It has a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with 4-axis OIS. The handset also has an 8-megapixel selfie pop-up camera.
