Terrence Mahon, Lead Endurance Coach, UK Athletics Federation comments: “The completeness and simplicity of Smart Run is astounding! The visual and audible guidance for interval training is a leap forwards from any other watch available.”
As usual, the in-built accelerometer counts the steps & stride rate. GPS tracks your speed, distance and logs the route and, the MP3 player with Bluetooth delivers music and audible coaching guidance. But the feature which sets the miCoach SMART RUN apart from the competition is the miCoach training system. It helps you start a new running program, training for a 10k or competing in a marathon. It will make your training more efficient so you get the results you want.
The miCoach system is focused on the concept of 4 colored zones – blue, green, yellow and red – SMART RUN uses these to coach you throughout the workout. Guidance comes in various forms including vibration, through the touch screen display and, if you are using a Bluetooth headset, the coach will politely interrupt the music to tell you to speed up or slow down. It also contains more than 400 anatomically correct animations combine to make hundreds of workouts and plans. The animations play right on the watch helping to guide the user correctly through each repetition and circuit.
Apart from the training facility, the miCoach syncs over WLAN and all the data is available on their web platform nullifying the need of any cable or sync application whatsoever.
Pricing and Availability
The latest piece of wearable from Adidas comes with a steep price tag of Rs. 24,999 and comes in black color option only. It is available for purchase from Adidas’ official online store.
While the fitness features like smart training and exercise animations on the smart watch sound interesting, the price tag is a huge let down. Other international products like FitBit and Jawbone Up 24 include numerous features like Mobile applications along with Sleep and Calorie trackers and they cost in the range of 130-150 US Dollars or around Rs. 8,000-10,000. Adidas definitely should look at the competition and the price tag should be adjusted accordingly.
