WhatsApp is the most popular messaging platform around the world. Unfortunately, it is also a source of a huge amount of misinformation and spam as anyone with your contact details can send you a message.
The Meta-owned app has made several updates to enhance user privacy and security. Now, it has added a new feature to protect users from spam messages and control their messaging experience.
From fraudulent schemes to promotional offers, the new feature will allow users to block spam directly from their lock screens. Here’s how:
How To Block WhatsApp Spam Directly From Lock Screen
- When a spam message notification appears on the lock screen, simply long-press on the notification.
- Next, you will see multiple options – add the contact, block it, or report and block it.
- Now, choose the option to block the sender instantly.
- That’s it!
WhatsApp also offers an option to report the contact as well. You can also preemptively block a contact by going to the More Options section on the Home page and choosing Settings > Privacy > Blocked contacts > Add > Search or select the contact you wish to block.
The new feature comes at an important time as WhatsApp plans to support cross-platform messaging soon. This is bound to increase texts in the ‘Third Party Chats’ section.
