The 1th Gen Kindle Paperwhite comes in two different models – the basic Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition.

The new Kindle Paperwhite is priced in India at Rs 13,999. Whereas the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition comes with a price tag of Rs 17,999.

While the new Kindle Paperwhite will start shipping from October 27, the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition will be available from November 4. Both models are now available for pre-order via Amazon.in.

As part of launch offers, the pre-ordering customers will receive Kindle credits worth Rs 500 that can be used towards eBook purchases, at up to 80 percent of the book price.

Specifications and Features

Both the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition come in a Black color option. However, the latter comes with more storage space (32GB) and an auto-adjusting light sensor.

The new ebook reader sports a 6.8-inch glare-free display with 300ppi pixel density, 10mm bezels, and a flush-front design. The existing model comes with a 6.0-inch screen.

Amazon has added an adjustable warm light and white-on-black mode to let users read books in both day and night times. it also offers additional 10 percent brightness at the maximum setting.

The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite comes with 8GB storage and a USB Type-C port for fast charging (fully charged in 2.5 hours via a 10W adapter). The battery is said to last for up to 10 weeks.

The refreshed model features a new Kindle interface that lets you easily switch between the home screen, library, and your current book. It also includes a new library experience with new filters, sort menus, a new collections view, and an interactive scroll bar.

The company claims that the new Kindle Paperwhite model will have 20 percent faster page turns and an overall smoother user experience, thanks to the new interface and hardware.

The new Kindle Paperwhite comes with an IPX8 rating. It is touted to withstand accidental drops in the bathtub and pool.

Additionally, the new model is made from 60 percent post-consumer recycled plastics and 70 percent recycled die-cast magnesium. Even the packaging is mostly (96 percent) made of wood fiber-based materials.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition

The special edition features an auto-adjusting front light that automatically adjusts the display brightness based on ambient lighting.

Additionally, the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition comes with 32GB internal storage and wireless charging support. Other features are the same as the regular model.
