Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold

The foldable laptop debuted in the US back in January last year. It features a multilink torque hinge to support the folding design. It doubles as a tablet when unfolded.

Additionally, Lenovo has added a Bluetooth Mini Fold Keyboard (placed inside the fold) that wireless charges when it sits on top of the screen. There is also a built-in kickstand to hold the display up (when kept on a table).

The new laptop is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor along with 11th-generation Intel UHD graphics, 8GB LPDDR4x RAM, and up to 1TB PCIe-NVMe M.2 2242 SSD storage.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold is said to offer up to 10.4 hours of video playback on a single charge. It also supports 50W Rapid Charge fast charging technology.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold runs up to Windows 10 Pro OS. It comes with a Hybrid infrared (IR) and an HD webcam for Windows Hello facial recognition and video calling.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth v5.1, two USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports (one can be used as a DisplayPort), and an optional 5G/ 4G LTE.

For enhanced multimedia experience, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold is equipped with four microphones and a Dolby Atmos speaker system.

Design and Display

Lenovo claims that the new laptop has passed the MIL-STD 810H certification. It is also said to have gone through additional testing to ensure the screen could handle being opened and closed thousands of times.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold sports a 13.3-inch pOLED display with 2K (2,048 x 1,536 pixels) resolution and a mechanical hinge that allows it to be folded for multiple use cases.

Users will be able to fold the screen out completely flat for a tablet-like experience. It can also be bent slightly to read a book. In portrait orientation, you can use it to take notes or draw sketches via the Active Pen.

The rugged laptop comes preloaded with the Lenovo Mode Switcher app to change its orientation as per the requirement. You can also split the screen into two or use it in full width.

Additionally, the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold automatically adjusts to display the on-screen keyboard when the Bluetooth one is not in use.

The new laptop ships with an Easel Stand (keeps the device in portrait or landscape mode for a desktop-like experience) and a Bluetooth Mini Fold Keyboard (supports long-hour typing).

Price and Availability

Price Rs 3,29,000 (starting)

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold comes with a starting price of Rs 3,29,000. However, it is currently available through the Lenovo India website at an initial price tag of Rs 2,48,508.

The foldable laptop was originally launched in January last year. In the US, it came with a starting price of $2,499 (approx Rs 1,85,700).
