Price and Availability
The Lenovo ‘Project Limitless’ 5G laptop was showcased at the ongoing Computex 2019 trade show in Taipei. However, it is only a prototype at this point.
The commercial variant is expected to be available sometime next year. Qualcomm had earlier stated that the devices based on the Snapdragon 8cx will begin shipping in late 2019.

The highlight of the new device is Always-on 5G. This will add multiple new functionalities to future laptops/ computers. This includes 4K/ 8K video streaming, AR/ VR applications, more responsive gaming, and high-quality video chats.
The Lenovo ‘Project Limitless’ 5G laptop is powered by the Snapdragon 8cx 5G platform (touted as the world’s first 7nm platform for PCs designed to include 5G connectivity), the company’s 2nd-generation X55 5G modem as well as Cat 22 LTE.
The Snapdragon 8cx uses eight Qualcomm Kryo 495 CPU cores and an Adreno 680 GPU. It can drive two 4K HDR displays and also supports Quick Charge 4+ technology. The ‘Project Limitless’ laptop will also bring enterprise-grade security.

The ‘Project Limitless’ is intended to demonstrate the potential of always-connected computers on 5G networks. Qualcomm claims that the 5G connectivity will make the remote storage seem like local storage, thanks to high speeds and low latency. This will allow users to share large files at an exponentially faster rate.
Snapdragon processors are designed to bring light-weight laptops with multi-day battery life and always-on Internet connectivity. Previously, Lenovo and Qualcomm collaborated to bring Windows 10 laptops based on the Snapdragon 835 Mobile PC Platform.
