Price $599 (approx Rs 49,600)

The Motorola Defy 2 is priced at $599 (approx Rs 49,600). It will be available in North America, Latin America, and Canada in the third quarter of 2023. There is no information about the Indian price tag.

With the new phone, the company is offering access to 12 months of SOS Assist (round-the-clock access to FocusPoint International’s emergency response centers). The messaging plans start at $4.99 (approx Rs 400) a month.

Additionally, the company has launched a new Bluetooth-connected Motorola Defy satellite link device. It works with both iOS and Android smartphones.

The Motorola Defy satellite link is priced at $99 (approx Rs 8,200). It will be available from April 2023. The 12-month Essentials Messaging subscription plan s priced at $149 (approx Rs 12,400). It includes 30 two-way messages and SOS Assist.

The Motorola Defy 2 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 930 processor and 6GB RAM. The 128GB internal storage can be further expanded via a MicroSD card slot.

In terms of optics, the new handset sports a triple camera setup on the back. It uses a 50-megapixel primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide angle lens, and a 2MP macro camera.

For selfies and video calling, the Motorola Defy 2 features an 8MP front camera. It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging and Qi wireless charging support.

The Motorola Defy 2 runs Android 12 OS out-of-the-box. The company promises updates to Android 13 and Android 14. Users will also get five years of security patches.

The new smartphone offers access to two-way satellite messaging. The recipients get SMS messages. Additionally, it comes with 5G, 4G, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi support.

The Motorola Defy 2 features a Mil-Spec 810H-certified build. It comes with IP68 and IP69K ratings. The 6.6-inch Full-HD+ display comes with up to 120Hz refresh rate.

Motorola Defy satellite link

The Bluetooth accessory connects to a smartphone running Android 10 and iOS 14 or later. It is essentially a hotspot for satellite connectivity.

The linked phone can access the Bullitt Satellite Messenger service to enable two-way satellite messaging, location sharing, and the SOS Assist feature.

The Motorola Defy satellite link also features buttons for emergency/SOS and location “Check In”. This works even when it is not connected to your smartphone.

The new accessory is powered by a 600mAh battery that can be charged via a USB Type-C port. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.1 and independent GPS support.

The Motorola Defy satellite link comes with a Mil-Spec 810H-certified build and IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It measures 70 x 50 x 11mm and weighs 70g.
