CES 2020 – Withings ScanWatch Can Detect Sleep Apnea, Atrial Fibrillation

The new smartwatch is touted as the first wearable that can detect sleep apnea and atrial fibrillation. It is currently awaiting CE approval in Europe and FDA clearance in the USA for both features.

The Withings ScanWatch sports a PMOLED display with a round dial. Along with display notifications, it will show activity metrics. It is claimed to last 30 days on a single charge.

The new hybrid smartwatch is made out of 316L stainless steel case and a sapphire glass watch face. It is water-resistant up to a depth of 50 meters.

The Withings ScanWatch is compatible with iOS (iOS 12 or later) and Android (Android 8 or later) devices. Connectivity options include BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) standard.

The new smartwatch works with the Health Mate app. It tracks heart rate, sleep, oxygen saturation, and an electrocardiogram.

There is a dedicated workout mode. It also keeps an eye on up to 30 activities such as cycling, swimming, and running.

Additionally, the Withings ScanWatch is equipped with a SpO2 sensor that detects oxygen saturation level and possible sleep apnoea.

A multi-wavelength PPG heart sensor takes heart rate and rhythm measurements. It will help users to find if they suffer from arrhythmia (or Atrial Fibrillation) in time.

The new wearable also sports three electrodes which allow users to record an electrocardiogram (ECG) and detect any abnormal heart rate conditions.

Also, Fitness Level assessments via VO2 Max measure the heart and muscle ability to convert oxygen into energy during physical exercise.

The Withings ScanWatch is priced at $249.95 (approx Rs 18,000) for the 38mm variant. The 42mm model will cost you $299.95 (approx Rs 21,500).

As of now, there is no information about the Indian price and launch date. The hybrid smartwatch is yet to get the necessary approvals.
