OnePlus has cracked the smartphone market by consistently bringing ‘flagship killer’ devices. OnePlus 5 is the latest offering by the Chinese brand. The OnePlus 5 base model with 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage is priced at Rs 32,999. The 8GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant costs Rs 37,999. While the new smartphone costs Rs 3,000 more than the OnePlus 3T, it is still one of the most inexpensive smartphones with high-end specs and features. In terms of price, the only Apple offering that comes close is iPhone 6 (Rs 36,990).
Comparatively, the iPhone 7 Plus is currently available online at Rs 57,000 onwards. While the Xiaomi Mi 6 costs CNY 2,499 (roughly Rs 23,500) for the 64GB variant, the 128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 2,899 (roughly Rs 27,000).

The OnePlus 5 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor (4 x 2.4GHz + 4 x .9GHz). While the Xiaomi Mi 6 is also powered by a 2.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, the OnePlus 5 comes with an added option 8GB RAM with 128GB storage. On the other hand, the iPhone 7 Plus is powered by Apple’s custom A10 Fusion chipset (2.34GHz quad-core) and only 3GB RAM.
While the OnePlus 5 is backed by a 3,300mAh battery, the Xiaomi Mi 6 and iPhone 7 Plus are backed by a 3350mAh and 2900mAh battery, respectively.
The OnePlus 5 features a 5.5-inch Optic AMOLED display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5. It supports sRGB and DCI-P3 color standards. Comparatively, the iPhone 7 Plus features a 5.5-icnh Retina display with 3D Touch. The Xiaomi Mi 6 sports a smaller a 5.15-inch display with 600 nits brightness. All three devices sports full-HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) resolution.
All three handsets sport a dual camera setup on the back. The OnePlus 5 combines a 16-megapixel main camera (Sony IMX398 sensor, 1.12-micron pixels, f/1.7 aperture) with a 20-megapixel telephoto camera (Sony IMX350 sensor, 1-micron pixels, f/2.6 aperture). Camera features include 2x optical zoom, a dual-LED flash, and 4K video recording with EIS. It also sports a 16-megapixel front camera.
On the other hand, the Apple iPhone 7 Plus uses two 12MP cameras on the back. The primary and telephoto lenses come with f/1.8 and f/2.8 apertures, respectively. Camera features include phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), 2x optical zoom, and quad-LED, dual-tone flash. It records 2160p resolution videos at 30fps. The Apple iPhone features a 7-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 sports dual 12-megapixel rear cameras, similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. Both devices come with optical image stabilization (OIS). Camera features on the Mi 6 include phase-detection autofocus (PDAF), and four-axis anti-shake functionality. Does OnePlus 5 offer better image quality than the iPhone 7 Plus and Xiaomi Mi 6? The OnePlus 5 features an anodized aluminum body. It measures 154.2 x 74.1 x 7.25mm and weighs 153 grams. Design-wise it looks very similar to the iPhone 7 Plus. While the front looks similar to OnePlus 3T, the rear is clearly inspired by the iPhone 7 Plus. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi 6 sports a premium design with four-sided curved glass on four sides along with a stainless steel frame. Both the iPhone 7 Plus and Xiaomi Mi 6 come without a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The OnePlus 5 is a great all-around device which costs much less than the Apple iPhone 7 Plus. While the Xiaomi Mi 6 is yet to be officially announced in India, it is expected to be priced on the other end of iPhone 7 Plus.
