After enough rumors and leaks, Samsung has officially announced its upcoming smartphones in the Galaxy J (2017) series. The South Korean brand has unveiled three new mid-range Android smartphones – Galaxy J3, Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 (2017). All three smartphones sport a metal body and run Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. What are the differences between the three models? The Samsung Galaxy J series offers high-end specifications at a budget price. Samsung announced that pricing of the upcoming smartphones will vary from country to country. The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) will be available for €279 (Rs 20,000 approx) in Europe. It will be the first of the three to hit the market. While the Galaxy J5 (2017) is supposed to go on sale later this month, the Galaxy J7 (2017) will be released in July. For the Galaxy J3 (2017), users will have to wait till August. The company has not revealed the pricing and availability for the Indian market.

The new Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) is the cheapest among the three. The stylish device sports a 5-inch HD TFT display similar to the J3 (2016). It is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 7570 processor and 2GB RAM. On the camera front, the new Galaxy J3 (2017) comes with the 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The new smartphone comes with 16GB of internal storage.memory, which can be further expandable via a microSD card. It is backed by a 2400mAh battery. The new handset measures 140.9 x 70.1 x 8.7mm and weighs 147 grams.

The new Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) is basically a slightly larger version of the J3 (2017). The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2017) sports with a 5.2-inch HD Super AMOLED display. It is powered by a 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor, 2GB RAM, and 16GB internal storage (expandable). On the camera front, it sports a 13-megapixel camera on the front and back. The new smartphone is backed by a 3000mAh battery. It measures 146.3 x 71.3 x 7.9mm.

The Galaxy J7 (2017) is the most expensive among the three. The new smartphone features a 5.5-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution. It is powered by 1.6GHz octa-core Exynos 7870 processor and 3GB RAM. Apart from 16GB of internal storage, it also sports a 13-megapixel camera on the front and back. However, the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) is backed by a bigger 3600 mAh battery. It measures 152.4 × 74.7 × 7.9 mm.

Features

A fingerprint scanner is integrated into the home button on both the Galaxy J7 (2017) and Galaxy J5 (2017). Connectivity options on the new smartphones include 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and Micro-USB port. Other features include Gyro, Accelerometer, Magnetic and Proximity sensors.
