How To Get Backup Canon Camera Pictures To Google Photos

Google announced a new feature that will allow Canon users to have Google Photos as a backup option in its image.canon app. The pictures will be saved in their original resolution.

The search engine giant is offering a month of free membership to Google One with 100GB of cloud storage to Canon users. However, a Google One subscription is necessary for this feature to work.

The new feature works with the latest image.canon app update. It is free to download on Android and iOS.

However, you will need a compatible Canon camera. THsi includes the latest mirrorless models (EOS R5, EOS R6, etc) and several DSLR models like the EOS 5D Mark IV and EOS 1500D.

While image automatically backed up in the cloud, they will still be transferred to your smartphone/ tablet first before it gets uploaded to Google Photos.

Previously, the image.canon app supports backup to Google Drive and YouTube. Now, Google Photos has been added a new option.

The paid membership to Google One starts at Rs 130 per month for 100GB. Alternatively, you can choose to pay Rs 1,300 annually. Google offers multiple plans (up to 30TB cloud storage for Rs 9,750 per month).
