American multinational computer technology company, Dell has launched its Dell Latitude Rugged Extreme Laptops. Dell has launched 2 such laptops in this range- Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme and Latitude 14 Rugged Extreme. These rugged convertible notebooks are build in a  manner that they can even withstand moisture, heavy rain and heavy weight of over 60 kg. These laptops, as their customers will target organisations in the fields like  oil and mines, construction, defence and the infrastructure segment. These laptops are based on 4th generation QuadCool thermal management technology which lets them survive in extreme temperatures.

Latitude 12 Rugged Extreme can be availed with the choice of 4th generation Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 dual-core processors and choice of operating systems- Windows 8.1 (64-bit), Windows 8.1 Pro (64-bit), Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) and Linux Ubuntu 12.04. It is further equipped with two DIMM slots which can support memory up to 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L and comes with a Mobile Intel Lynx chipset. It features integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400 (i3/i5) or Intel HD Graphics 5000 (i7) video card. It houses 11.6 inch HD, Direct-View outdoor-readable display with resistive multi-touch display with and 1366 x 768 pixels resolution. Choice of hard drive includes 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB. As far as connectivity is concerned, it supports wireless LAN, Mobile Broadband and GPS. Its weight starts at 2.72 kg with 311 mm x 219 mm x 39 mm dimensions. Standard 4 cell battery is claimed to give up to 8.5 hours of working.

Latitude 14 Rugged Extreme again comes with the choice of 4th generation processors- Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 dual-core  processors and operating systems accompanied with up to 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L RAM. Video cards offered are integrated Intel HD Graphics 4400 (i3/i5) or Intel HD Graphics 5000 (i7).  It houses a 14 inch HD, Direct-View outdoor-readable display with resistive multi-touch display and 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. Hard drive options are 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB. Connectivity options include wireless LAN, Mobile Broadband and GPS. The dimensions of this motebook are 14.0 inch x 9.7 inch x 2.03 inch. While it has a weight starting from 3.54 kg. A standard 6 cell batteryclaims to deliver 10 hours of working.
