Honor 6X With Dual Rear Cameras Launched In India: Details & Hands On Review

Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has launched its much awaited smartphone- Honor 6X, in the the Indian market. To recall, the smartphone was first introduced in China in October 2016 and was also showcased at CES 2017. The main highlight of the 6X is its dual camera setup on the back. What makes this phone even more special is its price tag. It is touted as the most affordable smartphone with dual rear camera setup in the Indian market.

Design

On aesthetics front, it features a simple and sophisticated design. It gets a 5.5-inch display on the front. Above the display, it gets front camera, earpiece and sensor.

On the rear, there is camera module along with fingerprint sensor and Honor branding. It features a curved back which feels very comfortable to hold in hand. The fingerprint sensor on the back is claimed to unlock the phone in just 0.3 seconds. During our time with the phone as well, it recognized the fingerprints accurately and quickly.

Display

On the front, the phone features a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS 2.5D curved glass display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution. The screen is sharp and bright and has good viewing angles.

Hardware & Performance

Under the hood, the Honor 6X comes equipped with an octa-core Kirin 655 processor clubbed with Mali T830-MP2 GPU. It comes in two variants based on RAM and storage- one with 3GB RAM + 32GB storage while other variant packs 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. Both variants support expandable storage up to 128GB via microSD card. The performance of the phone is great. It handles multitasking and gaming with ease.

Camera

In the photography department, the smartphone offers dual rear cameras. It comes with a 12 mega pixel camera with LED flash, PDAF, 6P Lens and a 2 mega pixel secondary camera on the back. There is also an 8 mega pixel front snapper for capturing selfies and making video calls.

Both front and rear cameras take images with good detailing and clarity. The rear camera takes great images with wide aperture and ‘bokeh’ effect. Selfies taken with the phone also come out to be great.

Software

On software front, it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1. The phone supports Dual WhatsApp and Facebook.

Battery & Connectivity

Armed with a 3340mAh battery, it supports fast charging and is good enough to deliver up to two days of battery life on moderate usage. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth and GPS. It supports Wi-Fi Bridge feature that helps users share their Wi-Fi data with others (up to 4 devices).
