The HP Omen 16 is powered by an Intel Core i7-11800H processor along with up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 GPU (8GB dedicated RAM), up to 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM, and up to 1TB PCIe Gen 4×4 SSD storage.
For the thermal management system, the gaming laptop sports an upgraded fan design that is claimed to be 2.5 times slimmer in size and has twice the number of fan blades to help provide better cooling.
The refreshed HP Omen 16 is backed by an 83Whr battery that can last up to 9 hours on a single charge. A proprietary Omen Dynamic Power technology dynamically allocates power between the CPU and GPU using an infrared (IR) thermopile sensor.

HP claims that the gaming laptop is made from post-consumer recycled ocean-bound plastic. It features a recycled aluminum stamped cover.

The HP Omen 16 (2021) sports a four-zone RGB anti-ghosting keyboard. An Omen Gaming Hub Light Studio integration offers a customized gaming setup theme.
The 16.1-inch IPS display comes with an up to QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 165Hz refresh rate, a 3ms response time, a 100 percent sRGB color gamut, and a TÜVRheinlan Eyesafe display certification.
