Reliance JioBook Specs Leaked – Here’s All We Know So Far

After bringing in affordable mobile phones and internet data, Reliance Jio is now planning to bring an affordable laptop. It will be exclusively made for the Indian region.

The low-cost laptop is tipped to be based on a customized Android build (being dubbed as JioOS). Several details of the JioBook Laptop have already surfaced online. Let’s take a closer look:

The Reliance JioBook (model number NB1112MM) has been spotted on Geekbench with MediaTek MT8788 processor and 2GB RAM. It reportedly scored 1,178 points in single-core and 4,246 points in multi-core tests.

Previously, the upcoming laptop was spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification website with three different model numbers/ variants – model NB1112MM, NB1118QMW, and NB1148QMW

As per previous reports and leaks, an upcoming laptop model will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor along with a Snapdragon X12 4G modem for 4G LTE connectivity.

Other connectivity options on the device will include a mini HDMI connector, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

The JioBook laptop wil likely be available in multiple variants – 2GB LPDDR4x RAM + 32GB eMMC storage and 4GB LPDDR4x RAM + 64GB eMMC 5.1 storage.

The affordable laptop is said to feature a display with a resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels resolution. It is tipped to feature a three-axis accelerometer and a Qualcomm audio chip.

The JioBook Laptop will run JioOS (a forked version of the Android build). It will come pre-installed with apps like JioStore, JioMeet, and JioPages.

Additionally, the low-cost laptop is said to ship with Microsoft apps such as Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Edge, and Office.

Price and Availability

The JioBook Laptop is expected to come later this year. However, there is no confirmation about its price tag and launch date.

The upcoming laptop is said to have been in development since September last year. Qualcomm was said to have talked with Reliance Jio to launch laptops with cellular connectivity in 2018.

The Indian giant has also partnered with Chinese manufacturer Bluebank Communication Technology (it already develops JioPhone models at its factory).
