Microsoft Launches Surface Book, It’s First Ever Laptop: Price, Specs & Features

Alongside Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL smartphones, Microsoft has also taken the wraps off its first ever laptop, dubbed the Microsoft Surface Book.

The Surface Book features a 13.5-inch PixelSense touchscreen display with 267ppi pixel density and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection against scratches. The display has 3000×2000 pixels resolution, 3:2 aspect ratio and 1800:1 contrast ratio. Moreover, the screen of the device can be detached from the keyboard and can be used as a tablet. It is powered by sixth-generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processor paired with Nvidia GeForce GPU and GDDR5 memory.

The device supports up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage. On camera front, it sports an 8 mega pixel rear camera and a 5 mega pixel front facing camera. It measures 7.7mm in thickness without keyboard and 22.8mm with keyboard. The laptop comes with Windows Hello biometric system that unlocks the phone by face authentication using camera.

Microsoft claims the Surface Book is two times faster than the Apple’s MacBook Pro and its battery is good enough to survive for up to 12 hours. It is compatible with OneNote and Surface Pen.

Price & Availability

The Microsoft Surface Book will be available at price starting at $1,499 (roughly Rs. 97,500). It will go on sale starting October 26 while pre-orders will start from October 7. There is no word on pricing and availability of the device in the Indian market.
