The new Panasonic P9 smartphone is priced in India at Rs 6,290. It is now available across the country via the company’s brand shops and retail outlets.

The Panasonic P9 sports a 5-inch IPS display with FWVGA (480 x 854 pixels) resolution. It is powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor and 1GB RAM. The 16GB internal storage can be further expanded via a microSD card (up to 32GB).
In terms of optics, the new smartphone sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with a f/2.0 aperture and a LED flash. The 5-megapixel front camera comes with f/2.4 aperture. The low-cost handset is backed by a 2210mAh non-removable battery.

The Panasonic P9 comes with a ‘Quick Switching’ feature (allows you to shuffle between the recently used apps) and ‘Quick Reply’ feature (allows you to reply to messages directly from the notification itself, without opening the full-scale app). Sensors on the device include a Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, and Ambient light sensor.
The new smartphone weighs 144 grams and comes in two color options – Champagne Gold and Black. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, and FM radio. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box.
The Panasonic P9 offers Android Nougat 7.0 and a quad-core MT6737M processor at an affordable price. However, the 1GB RAM is a huge disadvantage. With multiple options in the market offering better configurations, the new handset will face tough competition in its price segment. We will have to wait and see how it performs in the Indian smartphone market.
