Samsung To Launch Tizen Based Samsung Z1 Phone in India In December 2014

South Korean smartphone manufacturer Samsung will be launching its entry level low cost smartphone- Tizen based Samsung Z1 soon in December 2014. This smartphone will be available in sub $100 category which makes it around Rs. 6000/-. According to South Korea’s Maeil Business Newspaper,  Samsung is going to launch this phone on 10th December 2014 at a press conference in India. Samsung’s smartphones are based on google’s platform. The launch of Tizen operating system based smartphone will reduce the reliance of Samsung on Google Android operating systems.

Tizen based Samsung Z1

This smartphone is powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core Spreadtrum processor. It runs on Tizen v2.3 operating system. It equipped with inch WVGA Display (800 x 480 pixel resolution), sporting a 3.2 mega pixel rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front facing camera. It has 512 MB RAM and 4 GB internal memory which is further expandable upto 32 GB using microSD card. Connectivity options include 3G, Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi b/g/n.

Tizen is an operating system usually deployed in electronic devices like smartphones, tablets, cameras, infotainment devices of vehicles, televisions, home appliances, printers and so on. Samsung is one of the active current members of Tizen association while other members include Panasonic, Vodafone, Sprint Corporation etc. Samsung has also launched a NX300M smart camera based on Tizen operating system in 2013. This smart camera was the first consumer product based on Tizen. Samsung smartwatches are also equipped with the same operating system. Samsung Z smartphone based on Tizen was to be launched earlier but this project was withdrawn

Samsung Galaxy Star Pro S7262 is powered by 1.0 GHz, Cortex-A5 Processor and runs on Android v4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system with a 4 inch screen. It has a 512 MB RAM and it sports a 2 mega pixel rear camera.

HTC Desire 210 is powered by 1.0 GHz, Dual Core Processor and runs on Android v4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system. It features a 4 inches screen. It comes with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB ROM (Expandable Upto 32 GB). It sports a 5 mega pixel rear camera.

Indian smartphone market is flooded with more such phones that provide best features at lowest price. Z1 smartphone equipped with Tizen will test its fate soon in competitive Indian smartphone market. Since there is already fierce competition among numerous smartphone makers in India, let’s see whether this phone would be able to taste success or not.

Z1 is most likely to be launched in India on 10th December 2014 at an expected price of Rs. 6000/-.
