The Sigma fp is built from a die-cast aluminum alloy. It measures just 113 x 70 x 45mm and weighs only 370 grams. The new camera is also dust and splash proof.

However, it only features an electronic shutter. The mechanical shutter has been removed to achieve the compact size. It uses the L-mount, which is compatible with many Sigma and Panasonic lenses (both companies formes the L-Mount Alliance last year).

The new camera combines the form-factor of a point-and-shoot camera with ‘professional-grade’ video features. For example, it supports 12-bit Cinema DNG external recording. You can also record 4K videos up to 30fps and full-HD videos up to 120fps.

The mirrorless camera sports a 24.6-megapixel full-frame Bayer sensor with contrast detection autofocus. Sigma claims that it is capable of focusing down to even -5EV. The 100 – 25,600 ISO range can be expanded to 6-1,02,400.

The Sigma fp also supports for Eye AF, HDR, and the 14-bit RAW (DNG) files. It also has an impressive burst rate of 18fps. The 3.2-inch, fixed touchscreen comes with a 2.1-million dot resolution.

Additional features include an All-Intra recording option (records videos in smaller file size) and multiple dedicated buttons for easy navigation. You can easily switch between Stills and Cine shooting. Whereas ‘Tone’ and ‘Colour’ buttons offer easier access to tone control and color mode menus, respectively.
