How To Get 'Student Plan' For YouTube Music Premium, YouTube Premium

YouTube Music is available for free. However, it comes with ads. On the other hand, YouTube Music Premium offers a completely ad-free experience. It also allows you to play songs/ videos in the background even when the phone is locked.

You can get a subscription of YouTube Music Premium at Rs 99 per month or Rs 149.00/month for a family plan (can be shared with 5 more family members). Additionally, Google is offering the YouTube Premium in India at Rs 129 a month. This includes membership to YouTube Music Premium and access to all YouTube Original series (like Cobra Kai, BTS: Burn The Stage, etc).

Now, the video streaming giant has introduced a new ‘Students plan’ for its Premium ad-free services in India. As part of the new plan, all eligible college students will get a discount on their subscriptions. While the YouTube Music Premium will be available for just Rs 59, the YouTube Premium will cost Rs 79.

How To Get ‘Student Plan’ For YouTube Music Premium, YouTube Premium

Note: The ‘Student Plans’ are only available to full-time students from accredited colleges or universities in India. Eligibility of the institution is determined by SheerID.

  • To check if your school has student plans available:
    1. Visit the Student Plan landing page for YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium.
    2. Select Get Student Plan.
    3. Type in your school on the SheerID form. If your school appears then student plans are available.
  • Be verified as a student by SheerID. For help with the verification process, email SheerID at [email protected].

If you meet all the eligibility requirements for a membership, you will be eligible for up to four years of student membership. You will be required to re-verify your eligibility every year.
