During the ongoing pandemic, video call apps have become extremely popular. This has led to introduction of several new features by video calling apps.

While Zoom initially allows users to use virtual background during video calls from their homes or other locations, the new feature was quickly adobted by major apps.

Earlier, Skyps had introduced the background blur feature for iOS and desktop users. Now, the company has added the popular feature to its Androi app.

The background blur feature puts the area behind a user out of focus. This allows users to hide their background during video calls and maintain privacy.

How To Use Background Blur Feature On Skype for Android

  • Install the latest Skype 8.68 update
  • To use this feature on Skype for Android, click on the three dots More menu during a call and enable the Blur my background option.

Note: For this feature to work seamlessly, your device needs to run on Android 6.0 and above. The new features will be rolling out gradually over the next couple of days.

The Skype 8.68 is now rolling out for all devices (Windows, Linux, Web, Android, iPhone). The background blur feature was made available for iOS users in July last year.

For example, Skype for iPhone and iPad users get improved Share extension with support for dark theme and overall performance enhancement.
