The Google Nest Hub is priced in India at Rs 8,999. It is now available via Flipkart, Tata Cliq, Croma, and Reliance Digital. As part of launch offers, Google is bundling  Xiaomi’s Mi Security Camera (worth Rs 1,799) with the smart display.

The Google Nest Hub is competing against the Amazon Echo Show 5 that was launched in India back in late May with a price tag of Rs. 8,999. In the US, the smart home device is currently available through Google Store at $129 (approx 9,200).

The Google Nest Hub sports a 7.0-inch display, an Ambient EQ light sensor, and stereo speakers. It comes in Chalk and Charcoal color options. The device measures 118 x 178.5 x 67.3mm and weighs 480 grams.

The smart home display is powered by Google Assistant. It comes with many preloaded apps such as Google Search, YouTube, and Google Photos. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth v5.0.

Users will be able to give voice commands using the two in-built microphones. It s touted to recognize multiple voices to provide a personalized experience. You can enquire about a place, watch a video, or just view your recent pictures/ videos.

The Google Next Hub to also recites your schedule. The ‘Routines’ feature performs a series of actions by receiving a single voice command. For example, you can say, “Hey Google, Goodnight” to let the device set an alarm, turn off the connected devices, and play calming music.

Google has also provided various Digital Wellbeing features. Users will get options like Only allow non-explicit music, YouTube Restricted Mode, and Allow Assistant Answers.

Additionally, the Google Nest Hub works with a list of content providers. For example, users will be able to watch recipe videos on the Nest Hub through NDTV Food, Archana’s Kitchen, Tarladalal.com, Sifybawarchi, Swasthi’s Recipes, etc. You can also access news content (NDTV, etc), kids videos (Pikachu, Chhota Bheem, etc), and music (YouTube Music, Gaana, Saavn, Spotify, Wynk, etc).

The Google Nest Hub is the first smart display by the search giant. It was announced as an alternative to the Amazon Echo Show that was launched back in May 2017 to offer voice assistant access through a touchscreen panel.

The company also brought a new variant of its smart display called the Google Nest Hub Max. It is priced in the US at $229 (approx Rs 15,935). It comes in Chalk and Charcoal color options. As of now, there is no information about the Indian price and launch date.

The Google Nest Hub Max features a 10-inch display with HD (1280 x 800 pixels) resolution. It can be used to make Google Duo calls. When you are away from home, it can also be used as a Nest Cam.

The smart display sports a 6.5-megapixel camera with 127-degree wide field of view and auto-framing. The Far-field microphones come with support for Voice Match (lets the Assistant recognize your voice and respond), Ultrasound sensing, and Stereo speaker system (2x 18mm 10W tweeters) with 30W subwoofer (75mm).

The Home View dashboard shows all connected devices. It lets you control music, nest cam, Thermostat, etc. A separate switch has been provided to disable the camera and the microphones when not needed. Additionally, Face Match technology shows only your information.

Connectivity options on the device include WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz/5GHz) and Bluetooth 5.0. The 802.15.4 (at 2.4GHz) Thread support which allows it to directly communicate with Thread-supported low-power devices like door locks and motion sensors.
