Motorola Moto Z2 Play Launched With New Moto Mods

Motorola has launched its Moto Z2 Play smartphone in India. The new modular smartphone is a lighter version of the Moto Z Play with more RAM, and a new camera. Price Rs 27,999

The mid-range smartphone is priced at Rs 27,999 in India. The US price of the new device is $499 (Rs 32,000 approx). The Moto Z Play was launched in India for Rs 24,999. The new handset will be available from 15 June on Flipkart and retail stores. Users can pre-book the new Moto Z2 Play between 8 – 14 June.

Motorola is offering few offers for customers who pre-book the new device including the Moto Armor Pack (includes protective accessories such as an aluminum metal case, back shell, selfie stick and a protective film). Pre-booking customers will also get to avail a zero interest and zero processing offer. You can pay Rs. 2,000 up front, and the rest over 10 months with 0 percent interest. The brand is also offering 50% off on select Moto Mods for pre-booking customers.

The new smartphone is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor along with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. There is also an option of 3GB RAM/32GB internal storage combo. The Moto Z Play came only with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage option. It was powered by memory 2.0GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

While the company has made necessary upgrades on the processing side, it has downgraded on the battery. The new smartphone is backed by a 3,000 mAh battery as compared to 3,510mAh on the Moto Z Play. The battery comes with TurboPower support. Motorola claims that the new phone can last up to 30 hours on a single charge. It offers up to 7 hours of battery life on just in just 15 minutes of charging time.

On the camera front, the Moto Z2 Play sports a 12-megapixel dual-pixel autofocus camera with f/1.7 aperture. There is also a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture and dual LED flash.

The new Motorola smartphone features a smooth metal unibody design. The new smartphone is quite thin at only 5.9mm and weighs only 145grams. The new smartphone comes with water-resistant nano-coating inside and out.

The connecting pins for Moto Mods are placed on the back panel, while the fingerprint scanner is placed below the Home Button. The Moto Z2 Play comes in Lunar Grey and Fine Gold color options.

Motorola also introduced four new Moto Mods for its Z line of smartphones. These include the Moto TurboPower Pack, the Moto GamePad, Moto Style Shells with Wireless Charging, and the JBL SoundBoost 2.
