The Nokia 8.1 was launched in India at Rs 26,999 (for the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant). It can now be purchased at Rs 19,999. The 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage variant is now available at Rs 22,999 (down from Rs 29,999). 

Additionally, the Nokia India e-store is offering a one-time screen replacement (with the promo code ‘MATCHDAYS’), a gift card worth Rs 4000, and no-cost EMI plans (for a duration of up to 9 months).

The smartphone is powered by a  2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor along with Adreno 616 GPU and 4GB/ 6GB LPDDR4X RAM. The 64GB/ 128GB eMMC internal storage can be further expanded via a microSD card (up to 400GB). It is backed by a 3,500mAh battery with fast charging support that offers up to 22 hours of talk time, 24 days of standby time, and up to 11 hours of video playback.

In terms of optics, the Nokia 8.1 sports a dual camera setup on the back. It includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor (dual-tone LED flash, 1/2.55-inch Sony IMX363 sensor, 1.4μm pixels, dual-pixel autofocus, f/1.8 aperture, OIS) and a 13-megapixel secondary sensor (fixed focus, f/2.2 aperture, ZEISS optics). The 20-megapixel fixed focus front camera comes with f/2.0 aperture and AI enhancements.

The Nokia 8.1 runs Android 9 Pie operating system (as part of the Android One Programme). Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac with VoWiFi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, FM radio, a USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The dual-SIM, dual VoLTE smartphone sports a 6.18-inch display with a full-HD+ resolution, 18.7:9 aspect ratio, 86.5 percent screen-to-body ratio, 500 nits brightness, and 2.5D curved glass. It comes with HDR10 support, peak brightness of 500 nits and a 96 percent color gamut.

The handset comes in three dual-tone color options – Blue/ Silver, Steel/ Copper, and Iron/ Steel. The body is made up of 6000 Series aluminum. It measures 154.8 x 75.76 x 7.97mm and weighs 178 grams.

The smartphone comes with a Face Unlock feature and a fingerprint sensor. Other sensors on the device include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, electronic compass, and a gyroscope.

Audio is enhanced by Nokia Ozo surround capture. The handset uses a single speaker design, and also comes with a smart amp, and 2 mics. Additionally, the Nokia 8.1 comes with Google ARCore support.
