1. Design

OnePlus has gone beyond the Sandstone finish and has opted for anodized aluminum unibody design for its latest flagship smartphone. The OnePlus 3 is a well built phone which looks very premium. It has soft curves and sharp lines that offer comfortable grip. It is a light weight and compact smartphone that looks elegant while holding in hand. Also, with 7.35mm thickness, it is slimmer than its predecessor OnePlus 2, which is 9.9mm thick.

It features a 5.5-inch Full HD Optic AMOLED display with 1080p resolution. The display is bright and sharp. The viewing angles and sunlight legibility of the display are also good.

It features Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection against scratches.

The OnePlus 3 runs Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 operating system wrapped under Oxygen OS 3.1. The software is clean and user friendly. It comes with a lot of features like OnePlus Shelf feature, Doze mode and app permissions to name a few. It offers several features like screen-off gestures and customizable buttons that give users more control to personalize their smartphone experience.

7. Fast Charging Support

It packs a 3000mAh battery and supports Dash charge technology which is claimed to charge the phone up to 60 percent in just 30 minutes. The battery of this phone is good enough to last for a day on a single charge on moderate usage.

8. Fingerprint sensor

It features a fingerprint sensor integrated into the home button for additional security. The sensor is said to unlock the phone in just 0.2 seconds. During our time with the phone also, it unlocked the phone very quickly and accurately.

9. Alert Slider

It comes with an alert slider that gives the users, complete control over notifications. It allows users to toggle between three customization settings: all notifications, priority notifications and silent.

It is a dual SIM phone that allows you to use two nano SIM cards in a single phone

Here are the 4 downsides of the OnePlus 3:

1. No Quad HD Display

It lacks Quad HD display. Although it packs a very bright and sharp Optic AMOLED display, yet its full HD 1080p resolution is lower than the Quad HD 1440p resolution of some of its rivals in the same price range.

2. No MicroSD Card Support

It lacks microSD card support which means that you will have to restrict your storage to 64GB and you will not be able to expand storage beyond that.

3. Battery Reduced From 3300mAh to 3000mAh

The OnePlus 3 packs 3000mAh battery which is lower than 3300mAh battery capacity of the predecessor OnePlus 2. Although the Snapdragon 820 is said to be much more efficient in battery usage, yet the lower capacity is likely to matter a bit in performance.

4. No Wireless Charging / No Water Resistance

It doesn’t support wireless charging and also lacks water resistant properties which are available in some of the other flagship smartphones

Despite all these downsides, the OnePlus 3 is a great package of premium design and top-notch features. It is a great flagship smartphone that offers premium design, powerful hardware, clean software, decent performance and more.
