The new smartphone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 processor along with PowerVR GE8320 GPU and 4GB RAM. The 128GB internal storage can be further expanded via a micro SD card (up to 256GB). The 5000mAh non-removable Li-ion battery comes with 18W fast charging support.
In terms of optics, the Vivo Y17 sports a vertically aligned AI-powered triple camera set up on the back. It combines a 13MP primary sensor (f/2.2 aperture), an 8MP wide-angle secondary sensor, and a 2MP depth sensor (f/2.4 aperture). Camera features include PDAF, time-lapse, HDR, AI Face Beauty, Auto-focus, Digital Zoom, Auto Flash, Face detection, Touch to focus, and a super wide angle mode.
For selfies and video calling, it sports a 20-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture. Camera features include gender detection, panorama, face beauty, live photo, HDR, portrait, AI face beauty, camera filters, etc.

The Vivo Y17 runs Android Pie operating system with FunTouch OS 9. Connectivity options will include VoLTE support, Dual Nano SIM, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi Direct, hotspot Bluetooth 5.0, and a micro USB 2.0 port.
The new handset sports a 6.35-inch LCD display with HD+ (720 x 1544 pixels) resolution, 19.3:9 aspect ratio, 89 percent screen-to-body ratio, and a waterdrop-style notch. It measures 159.43 x 76.77 x 8.92mm and weighs 190.5 grams. You can choose from two color options – Mineral Blue and Mystic Purple.
Along with triple camera setup, the gradient back panel also houses a fingerprint sensor. Other sensors on the device include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, e-compass, and virtual gyroscope.
