Xiaomi Mi 4i Special Edition Launched In India: Specifications & Features

Xiaomi has taken the wraps off Xiaomi Mi 4i Special Edition smartphones in India to celebrate the launch of MIUI 7. The Special Edition MI 4i will be available in three new colors — Pink, Blue and Yellow. Currently, the Mi 4i is available in India in White and Dark Grey color options.

The specifications of the Special Edition variants are same as the original Mi 4i variants except that the former run MIUI 7 wrapped under Android Lollipop instead of MIUI 6. Specifications of the Mi 4i Special Edition include 64-bit octa-core (quad 1.7 GHz + quad 1.1 GHz) Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, 5-inch (1920×1080 pixel resolution, 441 ppi pixel density) display, 13 mega pixel rear camera, 5 mega pixel front camera and 3120mAh battery.

Price and Availability

The Xiaomi Mi 4i Special Edition will go on sale starting August 25, 2015 in India. There is no change in the price tag of the new Mi 4i variants. The 16GB variant of Mi 4i is priced at Rs. 12,999 while the 32GB variant is priced at Rs. 14,999.

The MIUI 7 is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop and comes with several new features such as facial  recognition support in gallery, improved battery and Child Mode. The facial recognition feature automatically sorts pictures of a particular person in a separate folder. The MIUI 7 optimizes apps to improve the battery life of the smartphones by 25% giving extended use of 3 hours every day to the users. Child Mode lets users manage and control the stuff that children see on the smartphones.
