Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi launched its Mi 8 in an event in China on 31st May 2018. The Xiaomi Mi 8 is a premium smartphone powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. The company also launched the Mi 8 SE handset in the event.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 is also equipped with a dual-rear 12-megapixel module and a 20-megapixel selfie shooter. It is also built with an infrared face unlock. A Mi 8 Explorer Edition has also been launched with 3D face recognition and transparent back. It also has an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Price And Availability

The Mi 8 is priced at CNY 2,699 for the 6GB RAM+64GB internal storage variant. In Indian currency, it is approximately Rs. 28,600. The 6GB RAM+128GB storage variant is priced at CNY 2,999 (roughly Rs. 31,600). Meanwhile, the 6GB RAM+256GB storage model is priced at CNY 3,299. This is about Rs. 34,800.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 is being sold in White, Gold, Black and Light Blue color variants. The Explorer Edition is built with 8GB RAM+128 storage, at CNY 3,699 (about Rs. 39,000).

Xiaomi Mi 8 Specifications

The handset is dual-SIM (Nano) supported. It runs MIUI 10. The Xiaomi Mi 8 is built with a 6.21-inch full-HD+ (1080×2248 pixels) Samsung AMOLED display. Moreover, it has an aspect ratio of 18:7:9. The smartphone’s screen-to-body ratio is 88.5%. Support for Always On display is also available.

It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC. According to AnTuTu, it has a benchmark score of 301,472. Moreover, the smartphone also comes with 6GB/8GB LPDDR4X RAM. 8GB RAM is exclusive to the Explorer Edition.

In the optical department, the handset is built with a vertically aligned dual-rear camera module with two 12-megapixel sensors with a 1.4-micron pixel, 4-axis OIS, dual-pixel autofocus, AI features etc. It also has a 20-megapixel selfie shooter with f/2.0 aperture, 1.8-micron pixels, and beautify.

In terms of storage, the handset is built with 64GB/128GB/256GB variants. The smartphone also has a 3400mAh battery.

In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi Mi 8 supports 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, dual-frequency GPS, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and USB Type-C.
