The Xiaomi Redmi 6 is now priced at Rs 7,999 for the 32GB storage variant. Whereas the 64GB storage model costs Rs 8,999 (down from Rs 9,499). The new handset comes in Black, Gold, Rose Gold, and Blue color options.

Users can also get extra 5 percent off on Axis Bank Buzz credit cards, Rs 1,800 instant cashback and 20GB extra data with Airtel. The company is also offering a three-months free subscription of Hungama Music, among other things.

The Xiaomi handset is powered by a 2.0GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 processor and 3GB RAM. The 32GB/ 64GB internal storage can be further expanded via a microSD card (up to 256GB). The 3,000mAh battery with support for 5W charging.

In terms of optics,, the Redmi 6 sports a dual camera setup (with f/2.2 aperture, 1.25-micron pixels, and Portrait Mode) on the back. It combines a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The handset also comes with a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.2 aperture, 1.12-micron pixels, and AI beautification capabilities.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box with MIUI 9.6 on top. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Xiaomi has also slashed the price (by Rs 1,000) of its Redmi 6 Pro in India. The new price cut will be applicable to both the 3GB and 4GB RAM variants of the smartphone. Recently, the company has also slashed the prices of Redmi 5 Pro, Redmi Y2, and Mi A2 smartphones.

Xiaomi has finally the first smartphone under its new ‘Redmi by Xiaomi’ sub-brand. The new handset sports a waterdrop-shaped notch, dual cameras, fingerprint sensor, and a 4,000mAh battery. The highlight of the device is its 48MP primary sensor.

The ‘Redmi’ brand will serve as a separate sub-brand (similar to POCO). Lei Jun (Xiaomi CEO) has confirmed that the new sub-brand will focus on bringing e-commerce friendly devices. On the other hand, the ‘Mi models’ will focus more on mid to high-end devices.
