Price Rs 4,499

The Xiaomi Redmi Go is priced in India at a starting price of Rs 4,499. It will be available from March 22 via Flipkart, Mi Home, and Mi.com. The Android Go-powered smartphone was listed in the Philippines at PHP 3,990 (approx Rs 5,400).

The Android Go handset is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor along with Adreno 308 GPU and 1GB RAM. The 8GB/ 16GB internal storage can be further expanded via a microSD card (up to 128GB). It is backed a 3,000mAh battery which claims to offer a standby time of 10 days.

In terms of optics, the Xiaomi Redmi Go sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with 1.12-micron pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, HDR support, a 4-element lens, and an LED flash. Camera features include HDR, burst mode, real-time filters, smart scene modes, and full HD (1080p) video recording.

For selfies and video calling, the handset sports a 5-megapixel front camera with 1.2-micron pixel size and f/2.2 aperture. It comes with support for HDR shots and beauty filters.

The new smartphone runs Android 8.1 Oreo (Go edition) operating system. The optimized OS comes with built-in data management features and security benefits. This includes a new set of smaller app size apps that offer more storage space. Users can access email, get answers, find directions, and play games faster than ever. Additionally, It will feature Google Assistant in Hindi and support over 20 regional languages.

The dual-SIM smartphone measures 140.4 x 70.1 x 8.35mm. It features a 5.0-inch display along with HD (720 x 1280 pixels) resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, 380 nits of brightness, and pixel density of 296ppi with 1000:1 contrast ratio. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Micro-USB port.

The Redmi Go measures 140.4×70.1×8.32 mm and weighs 137 grams. It comes in Black and Blue color options. Sensors on the device include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and proximity sensor.

Conclusion

So far, multiple brands have launched Android Go devices in India. Now, Xiaomi has joined the bandwagon. Recently, Xiaomi decided to part ways with the ‘Redmi’ brand. It will serve as a separate sub-brand (similar to POCO). The new sub-brand will focus on bringing e-commerce friendly devices. Whereas the ‘Mi models’ will focus more on mid to high-end devices.
