The Xbox One X is priced at $499 (approx Rs 32,000). It will be available in the US from November 7. As of now, there is no information on pricing and a launch date for India.

The new Microsoft gaming console will face tough competition from Sony PlayStation. The Sony PS4 Pro is currently available at $399 ($25,600) in the US and Rs 38,990 (approx $585) onwards in India. The Sony console has been beating the XBox in sales for a while now. The price difference tips the scale in Sony’s favor despite powerful specs offered by the new XBox.

Processor 2.3GHz, Eight custom x86 cores,
Internal Storage 1TB 2.5-inch
GPU 40 customized compute units, 1172MHz
OS Windows 10
Optical Drive 4K UHD Blu-ray

Microsoft claims that the XBox One X is powered by the fastest processor ever put in a console. The new gaming console is backed by a 2.3GHz CPU (eight custom x86 cores) along with a custom GPU engine (40 Radeon compute units at 1.172 GHz). It boasts of 6 teraflops of graphical power (50 percent more than the 4 teraflops found in Sony’s latest PlayStation). The new console comes with a 1TB 2.5-inch hard drive, 4K UHD Blu-ray optical drive, and Windows 10 operating system.

The XBox One X boasts of 12GB GDDR5 RAM with a bandwidth of 326GB per second, out of which the console reserves 3GB of RAM (one-third) for system functions / OS processes. Recently, Microsoft added the extra 1GB of RAM for developers. The access to 9GB of GDDR5 RAM allows games to use native 4K resolution at stable framerates. The XBox One X comes with liquid-cooled vapor-chamber cooling technology seen on high-end PC gaming graphics cards (another first for a console).

The Xbox One X is a bit smaller and sleeker than the Xbox One S.Microsoft stated that the new Xbox One X is the smallest Xbox ever. It is 5mm thinner than the Xbox One S. As of now, the Xbox One X will be available in Black color only.

The new console can run any games that could run on Xbox One and Xbox One S. Additionally, it can run 42 games announced at Microsoft’s Xbox event including XBox One exclusives such as State of Decay 2, Darwin Project, and The Last Night. Some of the compatible thrid-party games include Assassin’s Creed Origins, Metro Exodus, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Forza, and Ashen.

Additionally, all existing Xbox One accessories will work with the new Xbox One X. You can also use the new console to play Xbox 360 games (digital purchases only) on your Xbox One, thanks to Microsoft’s backward compatibility initiative. However, no announcement was made on the VR front, which is quite disappointing.

Compared to the Sony PS4 Pro, the XBox One X is $100 costlier. Even a small drop in price by Sony will make it more attractive for customers. However, the Xbox One X offers better quality with native 4K and 6 teraflops of graphical power along with few exclusive games. Additionally, original first generation Xbox games will be coming to the Xbox One family via backward compatibility later this year.

Also, the new memory split improves performance for all games on XBox One X. Even if a game doesn’t need extra 1GB of RAM, it’ll act as a cache system. This, in turn, will help in loading games faster. The combination of extra RAM and powerful processor gives the XBox One X an edge.
