The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC/ Samsung Exynos 8895 processor (depending on the region) and 6GB RAM. The OnePlus 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor. However, you can choose from 6GB or 8GB RAM. While the Galaxy Note 8 comes with 64GB internal storage, the OnePlus gives you an added option of 128GB storage. However, the OnePlus storage cannot be expanded. Both devices are backed by a 3300mAh battery.

Camera

The Galaxy Note 8 is the first Samsung device to feature a dual camera setup on the back. It combines Icombines two 12-megapixel cameras (wide-angle lens with f/1.7 aperture, dual-pixel autofocus + telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture, 2x Optical Zoom) with Dual OIS. On the other hand, the dual camera setup on OnePlus 5 combines a 16-megapixel primary lens (f/1.7 aperture) and a 20-megapixel telephoto lens.

While the OnePlus 5 features a 16-megapixel front camera, the Galaxy Note 8 comes with an 8-megapixel front sensor. On paper, both devices feature great specs. However, going by Galaxy S8 Plus, the Note 8 might have an edge in this segment. For a definitive answer, we will have to wait for test results in real-world conditions.

Features

The Galaxy Note 8 comes with a unique Samsung S-Pen feature that allows you to draw and write on your handset. Additionally, it comes with including IP68 waterproofing, DeX support, and an iris scanner. While many of these are absent on OnePlus 5, it does come with Dash Charge feature.

Design and Display

The Galaxy Note 8 carries forward the Infinity Edge Display of Galaxy S8. Whereas the OnePlus 5 almost looks like an iPhone. The Galaxy Note 8 measures 162.5 x 74.8 x 8.6mm and weighs 195g. The OnePlus 5 measures 154.2 x 74.1 x 7.3mm and weighs 153g.

In terms of display, the Note 8 features a larger 6.3-inch display compared to the 5.5-inch display on OnePlus 5. While the Note 8 features a Super AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution, the OnePlus 5 comes with AMOLED display with full HD resolution. A wide color gamut and high dynamic range give the Note 8 an added advantage.

Verdict

On paper, the OnePlus 5 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 go toe-to-toe in terms of performance and camera.
