Honor 8C Launched In India With Snapdragon 632 SoC, Dual Rear Cameras

Honor (Huawei sub-brand) has launched yet another smartphone in the Indian market. It is the first smartphone to be powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 SoC. The Honor 8C is priced in India at Rs 11,999 for the 32GB internal storage variant. The 64GB storage variant costs Rs 12,999. It will go exclusively available via Amazon.in and HiHonor Store from December 10.

In China, the Honor 8C is priced at CNY 1,099 (approx Rs 11,800) for the 32GB internal storage variant. The 64GB storage model costs CNY 1,399 (approx Rs 15,000).

The new handset is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 processor along with an Adreno 506 GPU and 4GB LPDDR3 RAM. The internal storage can be further expanded via a dedicated microSD card slot (up to 256GB).

In terms of optics, the Honor 8C sports a dual camera setup on the back. It combines a 13-megapixel primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture) and a 2-megapixel secondary black-and-white sensor (f/2.4 aperture). The 8-megapixel fixed focus front camera comes with f/2.0 aperture and a LED flash. The 4000mAh battery comes with support for 5V/2A (10W) charging.

The Honor 8C sports a 6.26-inch TFT LCD IPS display with HD+ (720 x 1520 pixels) resolution, a 19:9 aspect ratio, 269ppi pixel density, and 86.6 percent screen-to-body ratio. A fingerprint sensor is placed on the back. Other sensors on the device include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, electronic compass, and proximity sensor.

The dual-SIM smartphone is likely to run Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with EMUI 8.2 on top. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2 LE with aptX, GPS/ A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, a Micro-USB port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The new handset measures 158.72 x 75.94 x 7.98mm and weighs 167.2 grams. It comes in Aurora Blue, Magic Night Black, Platinum Gold, and Nebula Purple color options. The Aurora Blue variant features a 3D nano-level texture design (similar to gradient design of the Honor 10).

Conclusion

With the new Qualcomm processor, the Honor 8C should be able to run neural networking related operations (object, face recognition, etc) with ease. The new chipset is said to bring 40 percent more computational power than the Snapdragon 626. Additionally, the Adreno 506 GPU can render games 10 percent faster.

The new handset is the successor of Honor 7C (launched in May this year at Rs 9,999). It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC. The dual-SIM smartphone sports a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and HD+ (720×1440 pixels) resolution. It is backed by a 3000mAh battery. In terms of optics, the handset comes with dual rear camera setup (13MP + 2MP) and an 8MP front camera.
