The much-anticipated ‘Swipe to Reply’ feature is now coming to WhatsApp for Android. It is now available on the beta version 2.18.300 of the messaging platform. A public release is expected in the coming days.

The new feature allows you to quickly reply to a message from an available thread. It is particularly useful when replying to a message in a WhatsApp group. Previously, users had to ‘tap and hold’ a particular message and then press the ‘reply’ option from the top bar.

  • Download the latest WhatsApp beta on your Android device.
  • Navigate to the message you need to respond.
  • Swipe that message to the right to reply.
  • Now, the selected message will be quoted just above the text box.
  • Next, simply type your reply.

Note: To download WhatsApp beta version 2.18.300, you need to be a part of the official Google Play beta programme. However, you can download its APK file directly from APK Mirror.

WhatsApp has been constantly adding new features throughout this year. The messaging platform has over 200 million monthly active users in India and 1.2 billion users worldwide. Recently, it rolled out ‘Forward Message Limit’ for Indian users to limit fake news and misuse of its platform. WhatsApp allowed users to forward messages for up to 20 chats. Now, message forwarding will be limited to five chats in India.
