Indian smartphone maker Micromax has launched its Bharat Go smartphone in India. The Micromax Bharat Go is a new member in the already established Bharat series, The smartphone is the company’s first Android Go-based smartphone. The smartphone was earlier presented during the MWC 2018.

Android Go is Google’s way to make an OS for low-end handsets. It is a downgraded version of Android for low-cost devices. These devices have lower powered processors, less storage, and meagre RAM. It even saves data. It comes with pre-loaded apps like Gmail Go, YouTube Go etc.

Company Chief Marketing and Commercial Shubhodip Pal in a statement said, “Android Oreo (Go edition) is a compelling proposition for the mobile first economy like India. We are proud to announce the launch of Bharat GO, a smartphone powered by the Android Oreo (Go edition) today. Micromax Started the journey of empowering users a year ago with the launch of Bharat series. If we look at the statistics, there is still a huge gap when it comes to smartphone adoption all over the country owing to the lack of affordable smartphones in the sub 5k category”.

He further said, “Micromax has always believed in massifying and democratizing technology, be it through launching the first phone with a qwerty keyboard or the first phone with dual SIM. And today we are extremely proud to partner with Airtel and Google for the launch of Bharat Go, which will further bridge the need gap of the consumers.”

Micromax Bharat Go Price

Micromax Bharat Go has been set with a price tag of Rs. 4,399. The company has tied-up with Airtel. The partnership offers Rs. 2,000 cashback. It is part of the network provider’s ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ project. This lowers the price to Rs. 3,399.

Micromax Bharat Go Specifications

The Micromax Bharat Go is a dual-SIM based VoLTE smartphone. It runs on Android Oreo (Go edition). It is built with a 4.5-inch (480×854 pixels) TFT display. The handset is powered by a 1.1GHz MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor. It is packed with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. The mobile phone has Mali-T720 MP1 GPU.

The handset is expandable via a microSD card (up to 32GB).

In the camera department, the smartphone sports a 5-megapixel rear and front camera. The camera is flash supported on both sides. In terms of power, the phone has a 2,000mAh battery. The company has mentioned that the phone offers 6-7 hours of talk time and 170-180 hours of standby time.

In terms of connectivity, the device supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, Bluetooth, OTG support, 3.5mm headphone jack, and MicroUSB.
