Price and Availability
The Redmi 8 is priced in India at Rs 7,999 for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant. The 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage model comes with a price tag of Rs 8,999.
As an introductory offer, the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant will also be available at Rs 7,999 (for the first five million units). Customers who order the 3GB RAM model will also get upgraded to the 4GB RAM variant.
The new handset will be available via Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Flipkart. Sales start at midnight on Saturday, October 12.

The Redmi 8 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor and up to 4GB RAM. The internal storage can be further expanded via a microSD card (up to 512GB).
The 5,000mAh battery comes with multiple AI optimizations. It supports 18W fast charging. A 10W charger is included in the retail box.
The new smartphone sports a dual-camera setup at the back. It includes a 12MP Sony IMX363 primary sensor (f/1.8 aperture) and a 2MP depth sensor.
Camera features include AI Portrait and AI Scene Detection (recognizes 33 scene categories, including six India-specific categories).
For selfies and video calling, the Redmi 8 an 8-megapixel front camera with artificial intelligence (AI) powered features. It also supports the Face Unlock feature.

The Redmi 8 runs the Android 9 Pie operating system with MIUI 10 on top. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, infrared, wireless FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB Type-C port.
The dual-SIM smartphone features a 6.22-inch HD+ Dot Notch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It also has splash-resistant P2i coating on top. A fingerprint sensor is placed at the back.
The Redmi 8 comes with a new ‘Aura Mirror Design’ at the back. It comes in Oynx Black, Ruby Red, and Sapphire Blue color options.
The new smartphone is the successor of Redmi 7 (launched in April this year). It was launched with a starting price of Rs 7,999 for the 2GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant.
Recently, the Redmi 8A was launched in India with a starting price of Rs 6,499.
