Sony RX100 VI Launched With High Magnification Zoom Lens

Japanese multinational company Sony has launched a new model belonging to its much-acclaimed Cyber-shot RX100 series– RX100 VI. The Sony RX100 VI is apparently the first camera in the family to sport high magnification zoom lens.

The Sony RX100 VI is equipped with the Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T 24-200mm f2.8 – f4.5 lens. The company has also mentioned that the camera is  “an ideal choice for capturing daily life, cityscapes, portraiture, sports, wildlife, and everything in between.”

The camera will be shipped from July 2018 for $1,200. In Indian currency, it is roughly Rs. 80,400.

Sony RX100 VI has been built with a 20.1-megapixel 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor with DRAM chip. It also has an upgraded Bionz X image processing system. The system has a front-end LSI. It claims to maximize the processing speed and optimize image quality. Moreover, the camera sports a Fast Hybrid AF system. It has 315-point phase-detection AF points on the sensor, which claims to acquire focus in just 0.03 seconds. Sony RX100 VI also shoots till 24fps at full resolution with continuous AF/AE tracking. Moreover, this produces 4K video with complete pixel readout and no pixel binning.

The company has mentioned that the Zeiss tech merges the power of both 24-70mm and 70-200mmi focal lengths, as it features two ED (extra-low dispersion) aspherical glass elements and eight aspherical lens elements including four AA (advanced aspherical) lenses.

Recent Sony Developments

Sony launched their upgrade to the recently unveiled Sony Xperia XZ2 – the Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium. The Xperia XZ2 was revealed at the 2018 Mobile World Congress. The device is also Sony’s first ever smartphone with dual sensors on the back.

The Xperia XZ2 Premium includes a Motion Eye dual-camera setup with a 12,800 ISO sensitivity for video recording, which is speculated to be the highest ever on a smartphone device. Moreover, it even has a 51,200 ISO photo-sensitivity, and 960 fps for slow-motion video recording. The smartphone sports a 4K HDR Triluminos display, supported by an IP65/68 rating for dust and water resistance.
