The Vivo U1 is priced in China at CNY 799 (approx Rs 8,400) for the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage variant. While the 3GB RAM/ 64GB internal storage model costs CNY 999 (approx Rs 10,500), the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage version comes with a price tag of CNY 1,199 (approx Rs 12,600). As of now, there is no information about the Indian price and launch date.

The new handset is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor and up to 4GB RAM. The 32GB/ 64GB internal storage can be further expanded via a microSD card slot (up to 256GB).

In terms of optics, the Vivo U1 sports a vertically aligned dual rear camera setup on the back. It combines a 13-megapixel primary sensor (f/2.0 aperture) with a 2-megapixel sensor (f/2.2 aperture).

For selfies and video calling, the handset features an 8-megapixel front camera. Camera features include Panorama, beauty, AR shoot, etc. It is backed by a 4,030mAh battery.

The Vivo U1 runs Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with Funtouch OS 4.5 on top. It features a 6.2-inch LCD display with HD (720 x 1520 pixels) resolution and a waterdrop notch. Connectivity options include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, and GPS.

The dual-SIM smartphone measures 155.1 x 75.09 x 8.28mm and weighs 163.5 grams. It comes in Starry Black, Purple, and Aurora Red color options. Security options include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and Face Unlock feature.

Vivo has also started teasing its new sub-brand (iQoo) in the Chinese market. Recently, the company unveiled its much-awaited Apex 2019 concept phone. It sports a ‘super unibody’ design with no ports, no physical buttons, and front camera. The back panel sports dual cameras and MagPort connecting pins. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor along with 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Additional highlights include 5G support.
