Price and Availability

The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 NFC Variant will be launched on September 27. It will be available as an Amazon Exclusive product. The latest teaser comes with the hashtag – #SmarterLiving. The new smart fitness band will be part of the Smarter Living event by Xiaomi (to be held in Bengaluru on September 27).

Additionally, the newly designed landing page on Amazon India features the tagline – “Smarter lifestyle for a fitter you coming soon.” Interested customers can click on a ‘NOTIFY ME” link on the page.

As of now, there is no information about the Indian price. The Mi Band 3 was launched in China in May this year. The NFC variant is priced at CNY 199 (approx Rs 2,100). The regular variant of the Mi Band 3 costs CNY 169 (approx Rs 1,800) in China. The Indian version might feature few changes.

The upcoming wearable features a 0.78-inch OLED display with a resolution of 128 x 80pixels. It is said to be water-resistant (up to 50-meters). In China, the Mi Band 3 is available in three color options – Black, Blue, and Pink. It weighs approximately 20 grams (including the strap).

Xiaomi claims that the new wearable offers 20 days of battery backup (thanks to its 110mAh battery). It can be easily paired with a smartphone. Users will be able to receive notifications alerts from various apps, see caller ID, mute the call, etc. It shows incoming call/text message alerts alongside showing the current time, steps taken, and heart rate count.

The smart band is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 or above and iOS 9.0 or above). Connectivity options include Bluetooth v4.2 LE and NFC. It can be used to make contactless payments using Mi Pay and other apps.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 uses motion tracking and comes with health management features. It can keep a count of steps and track heartbeats. The Mi Band 3 comes with a heart rate sensor (PPG), and a triaxial accelerometer. It can also monitor sleep.

Conclusion

The new wearable is the successor to the Mi Band 2 (launched at Rs 1,999 in September 2016). It sports a 0.42-inch OLED display and comes with a 70mAh battery that offers up to 20 days of standby time. Highlights of the device include PPG (photo plethysmography) sensor and a heart rate monitor. The water-resistant (IP67 certification) wearable comes with Bluetooth 4.0 LE support. It allows users to receive incoming calls, alarms, and notifications.
