LG G7 ThinQ Could Be Equipped With Google Assistant Button

South Korean multinational electronics company LG’s flagship smartphone LG G7 ThinQ (to be unveiled on 2nd May 2018 in New York) could be getting a dedicated Google Assistant button. According to a CNET report, the Google Assistant button will be on the left side of the device. The power button will be on the right and the fingerprint reader on the back.

Earlier an alleged image of the smartphone was leaked on Twitter by @evleaks. The photo showed the smartphone with an iPhone X notch.

Just like Samsung, LG will be following a strategy which employs a physical button to call up its Bixby assistant. This move is also part of a well-planned strategy by the Asian company to seel artificial intelligence as a big difference when buying smartphones. The use of artificial intelligence has been a key objective for the company in 2018. The company has incorporated Google Assistant to its televisions. The company has even integrated artificial intelligence to its V30S ThinQ’s camera to recognize images.

Artificial intelligence has become a talk of this generation of tech fans, and companies have also concentrated their efforts towards the development of AI. Huawei and Samsung have already revealed their AI plans. Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg also claimed during his Congressional testimony that artificial intelligence would help his website to get rid of content which causes harm.

The LG G7 ThinQ will have unique custom LG commands that a user can its Google Assistant. The Google Assistant button will be similar to Samsung’s Bixby button, where the button can’t be reprogrammed to call another app.

This move by LG is a strong stride towards getting people to use the digital assistant.

Google has been trying for quite some time to make its assistant a key part of our daily lives. The company has used it on TVs, smart speakers and smartphones. Even Amazon has cemented itself in the new AI industry, with its Alexa assistant found in its Echo speakers, and other products.

LG G7 ThinQ’s predecessor, G6 was a flop. It came short to its competitor Samsung Galaxy S8.

Right now, the company needs a smartphone to show people across the world, that they mean serious business. The LG G7 ThinQ could just be the right gamble. Currently, the company hasn’t revealed any official information other than the unveiling date.
