The Nikon Coolpix B600 sports a 60x optical zoom lens (with an equivalent focal length range between 24-1440mm). The zoom is expandable up to 120x (focal length equivalent to approx 2880mm) with Digital Fine Zoom feature. The impressive lens uses the company’s Hybrid Vibration Reduction (VR) technology. It is rated for three stops of compensations and comes with a dedicated macro mode (can focus on subjects as close as one centimeter).

The bridge-style camera features a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor and high-performance EXPEED image processing engine. It can record full HD (1080/60i and 1080/30p) videos with stereo sound and 19 scene modes can be used for appropriate situations. While the camera automatically applies the appropriate settings, a Creative mode (with its 36 effects) offers optimal combinations of exposure, contrast, and color reproduction.

The Coolpix B600 comes with pre-focus function and target finding AF. Additionally, a Nikon Active D-Lighting reduces the loss of detail in highlights and shadows of high-contrast scenes. Whereas a snap-back zoom button recaptures lost subject in super-telephoto zoom to its previous position. Also, a Side zoom control enables smooth zooming even while recording videos.

The new camera is compatible with SnapBridge 2.5. It allows users to send images to the smartphone and acts as a remote camera control as well. The new camera comes with a 3.0-inch 921k-dot LCD monitor with an anti-reflective coating. A rotating mode dial that allows you to easily use one of the ten most frequently used shooting modes.

The camera supports the ML-L7 Remote Control over a Bluetooth connection. Additionally, the EN-EL12 Rechargeable Li-ion battery can be charged over a USB connection (while inserted in the camera).

Conclusion

Apart from superzoom, the new camera claims to offers superior image quality. Nikon claims that the 4-axis Hybrid VR effectively reduces blur with movie recording. Users will be able to capture sharp photos and movies at the maximum telephoto position and in low-light situations. Also, a Side zoom control enables smooth zooming even while recording videos.
